Arendt acted as lead counsel to Westfield Specialty in establishing its European platform in Luxembourg and obtaining a non-life insurance licence. Its multidisciplinary team delivered a full-service solution, spearheading all exchanges and negotiations with the CAA — culminating in the successful granting of the licence in January 2026 — while simultaneously advising on corporate structuring and employment matters.

From initial strategic planning through to final regulatory approval, Arendt provided end-to-end support in the entire licencing process, navigating complex regulatory requirements involving multiple jurisdictions — Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and the United States — and ensuring a seamless market entry for this high-profile international client.

The entity, Westfield Specialty International (Europe) SA, is a new European specialty insurance business headquartered in Luxembourg with a UK branch office in London. This platform will underwrite both European and UK risks on company paper alongside Westfield Specialty’s existing capacity within Syndicate 1200 at Lloyd’s.

This establishment reinforces Luxembourg’s standing as a forward-thinking insurance hub. The successful completion of this matter also underscores Arendt’s ongoing commitment to supporting clients on large-scale regulatory applications and its leading position in insurance and reinsurance matters.
