Arendt & Art

One firm’s passion for art

For over 20 years, we have been dedicated to showcasing the world of photography by exhibiting artists from around the globe at our offices. Our walls have been graced with the works of renowned talents such as David LaChapelle, Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Candida Höfer, Günther Förg and innumerable others whose names echo in museums all over the world. Yet we also pride ourselves on providing a platform for emerging artists with their unique perspective on the world.

Our temporary exhibitions on the ground floor of Arendt House are always intertwined with themes that resonate with the current societal pulse, inviting our employees and external visitors to engage in meaningful conversations.

Over the years, Arendt & Art has gathered an impressive permanent collection, which proudly adorns the walls of our offices in Kirchberg, Hamm and abroad. These artworks greet visitors in our hallways and meeting rooms, guiding them and creating an inspiring environment that encourages collaboration and human connection. For us, collecting pieces of art is not about showcasing their monetary value, but about highlighting their legacy within our cultural foundation as an enterprise.

Empowering art: our engagement with the world of art and photography

As a testament to our dedication to promoting art through creative expression, Arendt proudly:

  • Partners with MUDAM, Luxembourg’s leading museum of contemporary art, reinforcing our commitment to sharing the richness and emotional power of art.
  • Supports the Edward Steichen Award – a prestigious biennial prize that highlights emerging European talents in contemporary art.
  • Participates in the European Month of Photography network, where we present the European Month of Photography Arendt Award. This distinguished award, granted every two years, honours a visual artist featured in exhibitions across Europe as part of the network.
  • Takes part in the Private Art Kirchberg initiative, offering visitors a chance to explore our corporate art collection alongside those of other businesses in Kirchberg. This initiative is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sharing our passion for art with the broader community.

Facts about Arendt’s art collection:

  • Established in 2004 around contemporary photography by one of Arendt’s founding Partners, Philippe Dupont, in collaboration with art curator Paul di Felice.
  • One permanent collection. Two temporary exhibitions a year.
  • Artworks chosen for the permanent collection are selected after each temporary exhibition.
  • Two approaches in selected artworks: people and environment (landscape/architecture).
  • The exhibited artworks are presented in different forms, sizes and print techniques.
  • Arendt House itself was designed with art in mind, including integrating the sculptures on the ground floor and the exhibition space.
  • The pieces that enter the collection are framed in high-quality museum glass to prevent damage.
  • The windows in Arendt House were selected to meet our art needs: they do not let in UV light, which, in combination with high quality framing, preserves the colours and quality of the art no matter the lighting conditions they face.
  • Each temporary exhibition follows a specific theme.
  • The temporary exhibitions on the ground floor of Arendt House are open for the public to visit every weekend from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
  • Art tradition: we have been gathering artists’ books from the many artists we have exhibited, which are combined with other artists’ books in our art library.
