Margo Ovcharenko

Margo Ovcharenko was born in Krasnodar, Russia in 1989, Margo Ovcharenko and was graduated from Moscow Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia in 2011.

Solo exhibitions include: Houston FotoFest (2012), New York Photo Festival (2011), 7th Moscow Biennale (2011), Forografisk Center, Copenhagen (2010); in parallel to her Fabrika residency (Treviso), Margo Ovcharenko was the only Russian photographer to contribute to the book “Re-generation 2, photographers of tomorrow” (Lausanne, Switzerland, Musée d’Elysée, 2010). Her publications include: Artpress, Télérama, European Photography Magazine, Camera Austria and Blink.

Her images focus on young people, often ill at ease, who are negotiating the transition from adolescent to adult. She describes her work as inspired by the colour, light and perspective of classical painting. Her portraits explore the vulnerability of her subjects.

Margo Ovcharenko lives between Moscow, Krasnodar and Europe.
