Josiane Schroeder is a Counsel in the Investment Management practice of Arendt & Medernach.

She specialises in funds investing in liquid assets (UCITS, UCIs and SIFs). She advises fund promoters such as large banks and asset managers in relation to their day-to-day activities, including on mergers, liquidations and the creation of new structures and sub-funds.

Josiane also provides regulatory advice on topics like eligible assets, efficient portfolio management techniques and performance fees. Investment fund managers look to her for assistance ensuring that their set-ups comply with regulatory expectations, and that their contractual frameworks meet all requirements imposed by the laws and regulations in force.

Active in the investment management field since 1999, Josiane has helped numerous fund promoters and managers navigate the ever-evolving legal and regulatory framework of the fund industry.

Josiane has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1998. She was a member of the Luxembourg Bar Council from 2016 to 2018.

Prior to joining Arendt & Medernach, Josiane worked in an international law firm for more than 20 years.

In 1997, Josiane obtained her Licence en Droit at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), before becoming qualified in Luxembourg law in 1998 (Certificat de formation Complémentaire en Droit Luxembourgeois). From 1998 to 2001 she completed her legal training (stage judiciaire) followed by the bar exam, to become a fully qualified lawyer in 2001.

Josiane is also a member of the Luxembourg and European Fund Associations (ALFI and EFAMA) and of the Luxembourg Banking Lawyers Association (ALJB).
