The portraits by Luxembourg photographer Christian Mosar are also imbued with this formalism. Following in the footsteps of the Düsseldorf school and Thomas Ruff, Mosar’s images are simple, framed like passport photographs. The faces are exposed to soft, even light.

The wrinkles, the grain of the skin, its texture and that of the hair impose their presence, transcended by the enigma of the gaze, which reveals an inner life to which we are forever strangers.
