Born in Paris in 1985. Capturing through art the terms of a plastic becoming common to life and thought – such would be the poetic project of SMITH. Photographer, filmmaker, visual artist, and PhD candidate in aesthetics, their transdisciplinary work is understood as an observation of the constructions, deconstructions, relocations, and transformations of identity.

Through the hybridization of techniques, media, the use of new technologies, and numerous collaborations with scientists and philosophers, SMITH develops a poetics of metamorphosis. Exploring the transgender figures of the ghost, the fantasy, and post-traumatic transformation, SMITH gives form to processes of subjectivation that act in hollow or in negative, within the erasure, alteration, or injury of identity.

Their artistic and cinematographic works have been presented in solo exhibitions at the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles, at the gallery Les Filles du Calvaire in Paris, at the Helsinki Photography Museum, as well as in numerous festivals and art centers in Europe, North America, and Asia. Their monograph Löyly is available from Filigranes Editions. Their latest films, Spectographies and TRAUM, have been screened at numerous festivals in Europe.
