Born in France in 1964, Laurent Gueneau first worked as an assistant, familiarising himself with the studio techniques and light. Attracted by the outside, he worked on a documentary on the last barrier keepers, published in Photomagazine. His multiple visits in Asia led him to strive for larger formats and colours.
Blurring the lines between artistic and documentary photography, he analyses the relation between forms, colours and materials, always privileging the subtlety of colour. His photographs were selected by Raymond Depardon for the 2006 edition of the Rencontres dʼArles. His work has been exhibited at the Guangdong Museum of Art, the Pushkin Museum and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
