Our sustainability journey

Our Sustainability strategy: a vision for long-term success
Arendt’s objective is to deliver financial performance while creating lasting value for people, communities and the planet.
As our Managing Partner states:
“Together, we are building a future that reflects our principles and aspirations. I look ahead with humility, knowing our journey is still unfolding. In line with our sustainability philosophy, we will continue to lead gradual change in our attitudes and maintain consistency in our efforts towards a sustainable tomorrow.”
Jean-Marc Ueberecken
We structure our Sustainability strategy around the three ESG pillars: environmental, social and governance. We define our priorities and aim to continuously reduce our environmental footprint, foster positive social impact, and uphold the highest standards of governance.
To reach these goals, we put in place specific governance measures. These include a collaborative set of committees, currently made up of the Sustainability Coordination Committee and the internal Diversity & Inclusion Network@Arendt Coordination Committee. To coordinate our actions, a Sustainability Director, who reports monthly to the Managing Partner, was recruited in early 2023.
Below is a detailed look at the key elements of our ESG strategy.
Arendt’s sustainability journey
Arendt streamlined its sustainability strategy, focusing on strong fundamentals: its people, innovation and education. These guide and amplify our projects, investments and philanthropic affiliations.
Building on this foundation, we are evolving our journey by broadening engagement and promoting a stronger collective impact. Our continuous progress embeds sustainability into our core business, with specialists integrated across teams and a shared commitment.

Our Sustainability report 2024
In 2025, we published our first consolidated Sustainability report, which outlines all of our key achievements for 2024.
Our Sustainability Framework
Carbon footprint
Since 2019, we have continuously improved data collection to record our carbon footprint. Currently, we calculate our emissions on Scopes 1, 2 and 3, including purchased goods and services, using the GHG protocol. You can find our latest carbon footprint data in our Sustainability report.
At Arendt, we are committed to reducing our overall carbon footprint and offsetting our CO₂ emissions to make a positive contribution in addressing climate change. We continue to implement a range of measures to further improve our environmental impact.
We exclusively use 100% renewable electricity in Luxembourg and our buildings have been designed with the environment in mind, incorporating features such as heat insulation through automatic blinds, reusing rainwater, natural building materials, smart lighting and recycling stations.
Our newest building, Arendt 9, is certified Very Good by BREEAM.
Since the construction of Arendt House in 2015, Arendt has supported Graine de Vie to help offset its carbon emissions. This non-profit organisation supports reforestation projects in Madagascar, Togo, Benin, Cameroon and Ghana. Their local tree plantations create job opportunities, improve local living conditions, and raise awareness about environmental protection. Through this partnership, we offset 30% of our market-based emissions in our last reporting period.
Waste management and circular economy
Our approach follows the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
As a signatory of the Zero Single-Use Plastic manifesto, we replaced single-use plastic, which successfully led to new habits. For example, we have gone from using 400,000 single-use cups in 2019 to 0 today.
Arendt’s waste management has been certified by SuperDrecksKescht® (the Luxembourg label for environmentally friendly waste management) for five consecutive years.
By embedding circular economy principles, we minimise waste, reduce pollution, and extend product life through knowledge sharing and employee engagement (e.g. IT workshops to refurbish laptops, clothing drives, medical supplies).
Mobility
Our strategic office locations in Luxembourg (the first country worldwide to offer free public transport) encourage our staff to make the most of this public service when commuting to work.
We also implement our own mobility measures that have proven to have a positive impact:
- E-mobility fleet for professional and private use, including e-cars, e-bikes and e-scooters
- Free e-charging bays for staff who own electric and hybrid cars
Biodiversity
We respect the biodiversity of local ecosystems and help to maintain a healthy environment through the following initiatives:
- Beehives with 400,000 bees installed on our terraces to facilitate pollination in our neighbourhood
- Planting more local flowers in the green areas to support our bee population
- Corporate gardens around the buildings and green facades
- Rainwater collection from buildings to water green facades and corporate gardens
In 2025, we made our commitment official by signing the Manifesto: Our Commitment for Nature launched by Inspiring More Sustainability (IMS) Luxembourg.
At Arendt, our people are our greatest asset. As a responsible company, we provide an environment where they are able to thrive both professionally and personally and we strengthen impact beyond our office walls. Our main initiatives include:
Training & career development
From the moment employees join, they benefit from a comprehensive onboarding experience that introduces them to our corporate culture.
To anticipate future skills needs, they receive on-the-job coaching and enrol in Arendt University, a tailored learning journey spanning legal, regulatory, finance, tax, and advisory expertise. Its programmes anticipate both classic learning paths and personalised plans aligned with career progression. Leadership and soft skills training begin early, fostering self-awareness and inclusive teamwork.
Employee well-being
Our approach to maintaining a healthy and resilient workplace culture is illustrated by a battery made up of three equally important pillars: emotional, mental, and physical. If one is depleted, it affects the performance of the others, which is why our approach supports an equal balance across all three.
- Emotional well-being is nurtured through meaningful connections with colleagues, friends, and family. We offer regular team activities, company events, and informal gathering spaces. Our hybrid workplace includes a satellite office in Kayl to support flexibility and reduce commute-related stress.
- Mental well-being is supported through experts’ knowledge sharing during monthly seminars on topics like resilience, parenting, sleep, etc.
- Physical well-being is encouraged through a wide range of fitness classes in our fully equipped gym, as well as team sports and running events that promote both health and social connection.
Health & Safety
At Arendt, health and safety is a shared responsibility. Guided by our Safety & Security Manager and aligned with the national VISION ZERO initiative, we focus on prevention, awareness, and continuous improvement. This includes training, ergonomic upgrades, fire safety, physical security measures, etc.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
We value and support diversity, equity and inclusion, recognising and leveraging differences in our workforce.
We have established strategic objectives to:
- apply the principle of equal opportunity and foster inclusion through talent acquisition and management practices;
- create an inclusive work environment that promotes respect, innovation, and engagement;
- ensure that DEI initiatives, actions and results are transparent; and
- hold leadership accountable and encourage non-discrimination throughout the organisation.
To support these goals, Arendt has implemented governance mechanisms, including the Diversity & Inclusion Network@Arendt (DNA) Committee, which empowers our volunteer colleagues to promote DEI with concrete actions. A significant example of this is our inclusive panel events titled: “I am at the right place to be my true self, arendt you?”. These sessions provide a space where we learn and grow together by listening to Arendters’ personal stories. Among other initiatives, the Arendt Speech Contest allows employees to raise awareness about unconscious bias by expressing their thoughts on DEI topics. In 2019, it was recognised by the Diversity Awards Lëtzebuerg.
That same year, Arendt signed the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, reinforcing our commitment to diversity beyond legal obligations and appointed a Diversity and Inclusion Officer (DIO). In 2020, Arendt received the “Actions Positives” Label from the Ministry for Equality for best practices towards gender equality in the workplace.
Community
Our community engagement reflects our commitment to creating a lasting impact through strategic partnerships, employee involvement, and cultural enrichment. Education, environment, and innovation are the key pillars of our philanthropic engagement. We support long-term partnerships with local associations that act in and beyond Luxembourg’s borders, as well as international NGOs.
At Arendt, we empower our people to turn individual involvement into collective impact:
- Our volunteer programme allows employees to dedicate time to a charity of their choice, which builds a culture of giving back to the community.
- Our annual Philanthropy in (y)our Hands contest encourages employees to present projects by NGOs they are passionate about. Arendters vote to select the top five initiatives, each receiving EUR 5,000. This programme reflects our commitment to employee engagement and social responsibility.
- We also organise an annual charity raffle that is supported by the active contribution of our stakeholders, with the proceeds being donated to a different cause each year.
Our commitment to art embodies our engagement in exchange and knowledge sharing. Art challenges us, creates friction, and shows that a critical and inquiring mind is essential to understanding the world. These principles are also central to our professions.
Our support for MUDAM, which has been strong since 2010, is part of a broader approach to sharing this passion for questioning. This includes exhibition tours and artist meetings with our staff, as well as outreach to clients and the public. We also show our commitment to the art of photography by exhibiting international artists at our Kirchberg premises and welcoming local art lovers on weekends and in private groups.
Arendt is also proud to support the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra Academy, which works to instil highly specialised know-how and skills in the musicians of its student orchestra.
Arendt’s commitment to responsible business is anchored in two core pillars: anti-corruption & anti-bribery and data protection. These principles are embedded in our internal operations and address the risks identified by our stakeholders in our double materiality assessment.
A comprehensive set of professional conduct and workplace policies, including anti-money laundering, harassment prevention, whistleblowing, and DEI, supports a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Our Code of Conduct outlines clear commitments, such as respecting confidentiality, promoting inclusion, and speaking up against wrongdoing.
Arendt’s Security and Compliance Framework ensures legal adherence and protects against reputational risks, covering areas like anti-money laundering, data protection, and confidentiality. Our independent Compliance team reports directly to the Managing Partner.
Additionally, a dedicated Data Protection Officer oversees GDPR compliance and ensures the implementation of robust data protection policies and practices.
Cybersecurity is central to our operations. Arendt Digital Services holds ISO 27001 certification, embedding international standards into governance and IT practices to safeguard client data and ensure business continuity.
Sharing expertise and knowledge is also at the heart of our corporate values.
Our sustainability strategy is built around three core ESG pillars: Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are relevant to our activities.

We strive to minimize our environmental footprint, create positive social impact, and ensure strong governance. Through these efforts, we aim to continuously improve and drive meaningful change in our ongoing journey.
A significant milestone in our progress was earning the Responsible Enterprise (RSE) and Responsibility Europe (RE) certifications. These recognitions reflect our effective integration of ESG principles across operations, supported by dedicated coordinators and a centralised, data-driven approach.
We are proud to hold several other ESG-related labels and certifications.

Innovation has always been a key driver in Arendt’s culture. We like to think outside the box, and to anticipate and act rather than follow along. Being at the forefront of change and at the cutting edge of technology means investing in innovative solutions, tools and ideas.
This mindset is applied in every one of our projects, whether carried out internally or delivered to our clients.
Arendt has a broad array of technological tools integrated into its service offering and continuously invests in their development to ensure better customisation and efficiency. One outcome of this is a particular focus on continuing professional training for all of our teams, to ensure that they can use these resources to the fullest.
