Björn ten Seldam is a Senior Associate in the EU & Competition Law practice of Arendt & Medernach.
Björn advises clients on a broad range of competition law matters, including merger control, abuse of dominance, cartel investigations and related regulatory issues. He combines strong regulatory insight with a solid litigation background and has developed particular expertise in cross-border matters involving the German market. He also contributes to academic discussions in the field, notably as an editor of the Stanford Computational Antitrust Journal.
He has represented clients before the Court of Justice of the EU in complex litigation, in cases spanning EU public procurement, EU sanctions and broader questions of EU law. His practice is characterised by a strategic and solution-driven approach to contentious proceedings, often involving high-stakes regulatory and commercial considerations.
Björn has significant experience in EU public procurement law, advising both EU institutions and agencies, as well as private sector clients, with a particular focus on the military and defence sector. In parallel, he has developed strong expertise in EU trade law and sanctions and assists clients in navigating complex compliance frameworks and restrictive measures regimes across jurisdictions. His client base includes industrial groups, financial institutions, insurance companies and stakeholders in the funds industry, both in Luxembourg and internationally.
In addition to his practice, Björn is an external lecturer at the European Institute of Public Administration. He has delivered training sessions in EU law to members of the judiciary in Serbia and Montenegro.
- Björn earned an LL.M. in Law and Economics from Utrecht University (the Netherlands).
- He also has a dual Master’s in Private International and European Business Law, jointly awarded by the Université de Bourgogne (France) and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany).

- Before joining Arendt, Björn gained in-house experience within the legal department of a major financial institution in France, as well as at its German subsidiary.
