PRIIPs Kid: A challenge when selling your investment products to non-professional investors
Objectives
Investment funds qualify as PRIIPs (packaged retail and insurance-based investment products). When a PRIIP is sold to a retail investor within the meaning of MiFID 2, a PRIIPs KID has to be drawn up and made available to such retail investor. The objective of the training is to:
(i) identify and understand the impact of the new PRIIPs provisions on investment funds and their impact on the sales process
(ii) review the risk management and other quantitative features of the PRIIP regulation, discuss about the challenges in terms of data management, etc.
Content
Legal part
- Introduction – setting the scene and remind state of play of implementation
- The European and Luxembourg legal and regulatory PRIIPs KID framework
- Scope – clarification of products in scope of PRIIPs KID, grandfathering provisions and CSSF requirements
- The content of the PRIIPs KID – the various sections and their mandatory content
- Identification of critical points and their solutions (based on the views of the Luxembourg and European regulators)
- Outlook on next steps and potential developments
Risk Management part
- The main impact on a PRIIPs technical implementation from an organizational and strategic perspective (a data challenge)
- A review of the pros and contras of possible business models
- Categorization of PRIIIPs: A review of the assessment criteria
- Review of the market/credit/liquidity risk assessments for PRIIPs
- Review of the performance methodology for different PRIIPs
- Review of the cost methodology
