From the very beginning, Arendt has been actively involved in the microfinance, social and environmental impact fields.

Arendt structured a dedicated impact finance team ten years ago that paved the way to our own sustainability strategy.

The team has a very strong expertise in the structuring and day-to-day management of various social and environmental impact oriented funds. The team has advised on the structuring of the first Luxembourg microfinance fund.

The team is also active in philanthropy, and technical assistance facility program to investees. The activities are mainly directed towards developing countries.

Our extensive experience in Luxembourg gives us a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations in the country in order to serve our clients efficiently with the best possible added value.

Beyond Legal towards Impact

The team’s daily mission is to associate legal services and impact investing. The team can assist through the full range of legal services in line with best market practice in impact investing.

Projects selected and supported come from various horizons as long as impact measurement remains a core component of their project and include notably:

  • Specialised impact asset managers or first time funds/first time teams;
  • Innovative and pilot projects in the impact sphere and for philanthropy;
  • Financial product with sustainable investment as its objective (SFDR article 9 funds);
  • Usually small funds, at least at the start;
  • Usually directed towards developing countries.

As strategic partner for impact projects, the team is delighted to leverage its impact investing network to the benefit of any clients by connecting them with the right impact players and providing relevant insight on specific impact topic.

Our involvement in developing the sector

The team is committed to a number of Luxembourg or international initiatives around impact finance. They participate in various microfinance, social, environmental and impact committees within the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry.
