Sébastien Thomas is a Senior Associate in the EU Financial & Competition Law practice of Arendt & Medernach. He specialises in EU and Luxembourg competition law and in EU State aid law in particular.

Sébastien advises a wide range of both national and international public and private clients on EU and competition law and sectoral regulation. 

Prior to joining Arendt, Sébastien worked as a legal secretary for different judges at the CJEU (General Court and Court of Justice). He was also a member of the Legal Service of the EU Commission (State aid team), which he represented before the EU courts in this capacity. In addition, he worked as an academic assistant at the College of Europe (Bruges). Sébastien is the author of a book on State aid law (in French), as well as several articles and case-law analyses in this field.

Sébastien holds a Master’s in Law from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Groningen (Netherlands), as well as an LL.M. in European Law from the College of Europe (Belgium).
