Maria Karekla is a Director in the Governance Services department of Arendt Investor Services SA. She specialises in corporate governance matters for regulated and non-regulated alternative investment funds as defined under the AIFM Law.

Maria has over 12 years of professional experience in corporate and commercial law. In the course of her career, she has been involved in complex corporate restructurings and M&As, and provided legal advice to HNWIs, family offices and reputable company groups. 

She joined Arendt Investor Services in 2022 managing a portfolio of CSSF regulated and non-regulated alternative investment funds investing mainly in real estate, private equity, infrastructure and renewable energy assets worldwide. 

Maria has completed many seminars and training courses organised by Luxembourg government agencies, including anti-money laundering training for funds delivered by the House of Training. 

She is a member of the ILA Company Secretarial and Governance officer Committee, member of the LPEA - Fund Administration Committee and the ALFI Private Assets Conference Committee.

Maria holds an LL.B. in Law and LL.M. in Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary University of London (UK). She is a qualified lawyer and is registered with the Cyprus Bar Association.
