Philippe Dupont is a Founding Partner of Arendt & Medernach.

He is a member of the Banking & Financial Services practice of Arendt and specialises in banking and finance with a focus on bank regulatory, lending, structured finance, securities laws and litigation.

  • Master’s degree in law from the Université de Paris (France).
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (U.K.).
  • Member of the Luxembourg Bar (since 1986).

  • Co-Chair of the Banking & Financial Law Committee of the International Bar Association since 2024.
  • Correspondent of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) for Luxembourg since 2022.
  • Conciliator and Arbitrator at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development since 2018.
  • Membre du Haut Comité de la Place Financière since 2021.

  • Expert to the Luxembourg Government and member of the drafting group of the Hague Conference on Private International Law that led to the Convention of 13 December 2002 on the law applicable to certain rights in respect of securities held with an intermediary.
  • Member of the Luxembourg delegation and of the drafting group at the diplomatic conference leading to the Luxembourg Protocol to the Convention on international interests in mobile equipment on matters specific to railway rolling stock.
  • Member of the Luxembourg delegation and of the drafting group of the Unidroit convention on Harmonised Substantive Rules regarding Securities held with an Intermediary that led to the Geneva Convention of 2009 on substantive rules for intermediated securities.
