Anne-Sophie Besançon is a Counsel in the Banking & Financial Services and Insurance & Reinsurance Law practices of Arendt & Medernach.
She advises financial institutions, including banks, payment institutions, electronic money institutions and professionals of the financial sector, as well as insurance and reinsurance companies, on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters.
In particular, she specialises in prudential and regulatory compliance matters. She also assists both established supervised entities and start-ups in developing innovative products and obtaining the necessary regulatory authorisations. In addition, Anne-Sophie advises supervised entities on the regulatory aspects of M&A transactions.
- Anne-Sophie has a Master’s in Private and International Law and a Master’s 2 in Criminal Law and Criminal Science from Université Pierre Mendes France (France).
- She has an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution and Arbitration from Queen Mary University (England).
- Anne-Sophie is a member of the Paris and Luxembourg Bars
- She is also a board member of Ladies in Law Luxembourg (LILLA)
- In addition, she is a member of the ABBL and ALJB.
- Anne-Sophie has many years of expertise as a financial regulatory lawyer, in-house counsel and litigator. Over this time, she notably spent seven years working in the financial regulatory team of a Magic Circle firm in Luxembourg and more than four years as a criminal and commercial litigator.
