Arendt & Medernach, the leading independent business law firm in Luxembourg, is pleased to announce the arrival of Yvan Stempnierwsky as Of Counsel at the firm.

In the context of the growing internationalisation of accounting standards and the increasing complexity of transactions, accounting law practice is becoming a key element in the success of any transaction.

Yvan Stempnierwsky specialises in the accounting treatment of complex transactions under Luxembourg Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Belgian GAAP, European Accounting Law, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Not-for Profit Accounting Law and Public Sector Accounting Law. He also provides assistance to listed companies during IFRS enforcement by the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA - Belgium) and the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF - Luxembourg). His expertise also serves boards of directors and covers tax matters, mergers & acquisitions and real estate structure related issues.

Yvan Stempnierwsky is a lecturer in Financial Reporting Law at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and at the University of Louvain. He holds a Master's degree in law from the Université de Bruxelles (Belgium) as well as a Master's degree in Economic law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2008 and was admitted by the Luxembourg Bar in 2013 to practice in Luxembourg under his Belgian professional title.

"Accounting law and financial reporting regulations have become increasingly important in Luxembourg over the last years, in particular since the creation in 2013 of a National Standard Setter (Commission des Normes Comptables). This area of law is complementary to many practices in our firm in particular our tax, corporate, M&A, capital markets, banking and finance, investment management and private equity/real estate practices. The arrival of a prominent expert like Yvan Stempnierwsky enables us to assist our clients across the board with an unparalleled variety and depth of expertise," stressed Thierry Lesage, Partner in the Tax Law practice and member of the strategy board of Arendt & Medernach.

"The arrival of Yvan Stempnierwsky will allow the firm to enhance its global strategy by completing the value chain of services that we can offer to our clients. It also demonstrates our ability to attract the best talents in the Luxembourg financial sector to our firm," said Guy Harles, Co-Chairman of Arendt & Medernach.
