The exhibition "Yang Yongliang - Wonderland" has been on view at Arendt & Medernach until 31 May 2012 every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Yang Yongliang’s work ranges from photography, installation, painting and video, each medium contributing to express his vision of our contemporary world. Born in Shanghai in 1981, he studied traditional Chinese art an early age, including shui mo painting, and calligraphy. Yet the artist revolutionizes classical Chinese art. His works revisit calligraphy and traditional ink painting while incorporating contemporary technology. The landscapes he creates are composed of numerous photographs of skyscrapers, motorways and avenues. Using this method, the artist delicately shows how technical progress changed the Chinese landscape. He offers the viewer a view of China both ancient and contemporary.

Yang Yongliang has exhibited in numerous art institutions around the world from the Noorderlicht photo festival 2011 in Groningen, the Netherlands, the 4.Fotofestival Mannheim_Ludwigshafen_Heidelberg 2011 in Germany most recently, to the MOCA Shanghai or the Kunstmuseum Luzern in Switzerland.

His works are presented in important collections such as the British Museum, the National Gallery of Victoria or the Ulli Sigg collection among many others. He was nominated for the Discovery award at the Fotofestival 2009 in Arles, France

Yang Yongliang is represented by theMagda Danysz galleries.
