Under Luxembourg law, staff representatives, i.e. members of the staff delegation (a staff delegation must be set up in all undertakings employing regularly 15 or more employees) and members of the works council (a works council must be set up in all undertakings employing regularly 150 or more employees), are protected against dismissal.

At an interval of barely a fortnight the eighth chamber of the Court of Appeal handed down two rulings on the jurisdiction of courts with respect to post-contractual obligations incumbent on former employees, more particularly with respect to so-called disloyal activity.

As of 1 October 2013 the index applicable to employees’ remuneration will increase from 756.27 to 775.17.
This raise implies a mandatory salary increase of 2.5% in gross salaries paid under Luxembourg employment contracts.
